Film Project Genre Research- It

The movie It, is a horror film. Within the first two minutes of the film, It, the scene is established on a rainy day where a little boy gets to stay home from school with his big brother. The little boy has his brother build him a paper boat that he can go play in the rain with, when he plays with the boat in the gutter, the water washes the paper boat down the drain, where the antagonist is introduced. Some film making techniques used in the making of the movie It are a lot of dolly's, close ups, and wide shots to establish the scenery. In the opening credits, some job title features are, the production, picture, director, and actors and actress'. The budget for the film It was $35 million, and worldwide it grossed a total of $700 million. It was nominated for MTV Movie Award for Best Villain, Empire Award for Best Horror, and MTV Movie Award for Most Frightened Performance. An award It won is the, MTV Movie Award for Best On-Screen Duo.

Film Project Genre Research- Hush

The film, Hush, is a horror movie. Within the first two minutes of the movie Hush, it shows that there is a deaf woman, living alone in a house in the middle of the forest, and she is making dinner for herself, and her neighbor asks if she could stop by. Some film techniques used in the film, Hush, are when the main character is making herself dinner, you can see in the background that the neighbor is banging on the door trying to get the main characters attention, but is not able to get it, so she is stabbed to death right in front of her sliding glass door. The cinematographer uses a wide shot to show that there are no houses near the main characters house so there is nowhere for her to escape to. The opening credits show who the production is, and who the actors are that are in the film. The budget of the film was $1 million, and worldwide it grossed $44 million. The film was nominated for, Best Art Direction, Best Score, Best Costume Design, Best Editing and Best Cinematography. The film won Best Independent Film, and Best Direct Release Horror.

Film Project Genre Research- The Purge

The film The Purge, is a horror movie. Within the first two minutes of the movie, The Purge, it shows an announcement come across the screen saying there is going to be the annual purge where all crime is legal for 12 hours including murder. This tells you that something bad is going to happen within these 12 hours of the purge and throughout the rest of the movie. Throughout the movie, The Purge, a lot of incidental music was used to add to the suspense of the movie. There were also a lot of close up shots of the antagonists masks, weapons, and actions to scare the watchers. During the opening credits, it shows who the production is, what other companies they worked with, and then proceeds to go on to the actors. The budget for the film was $3 million. Worldwide, the film grossed $89.3 million while in theaters.  The Purge has been nominated for People's Choice Award for Favorite Thriller Movie, and the film won, Best Teaser Poster, Best Horror Remake/ Sequel, and Top Box Office Film.

Film Project Genre Research- Halloween

The film, Halloween, is a horror. In the first two minutes of the movie, Halloween (2018), a lot is told about the main characters lives, and the serial killer, Micheal Myers. In the beginning of the movie it shows a mental institution and a man chained to the ground, in a yellow square so other patients know not to cross it, it shows everyone in the institution going crazy because a man holds up the famous Micheal Myers mask to see how he would react to it. Some film making techniques used during the making of the movie Halloween (2018), they shot with anamorphic, which is a kind of wide shot to show in the background a lot of whats happening behind them. In the opening credits, it shows all of the main characters and who plays them, it then shows the casting director, director, editor and more. The films budget, was $10 million, and the movie grossed $255.5 million worldwide. Some awards Halloween has been nominated for are, Grolsch People's Choice Midnight Madness Award, and four Fangoria Chainsaw Award nominations. Halloween won Best Wide Release, Best Actor/Actress, and Best Makeup FX.

Film Project Genre Research- Get Out

The film Get Out, is a horror/ thriller movie. In the first two minutes of the movie, Get Out, a lot is told about, the location, the characters relationships, and what is going to be happening next and throughout the rest of the movie. The cinematographer used large space to his advantage, when the main character Chis first walks in, the camera slowly backs away from him almost making him unrecognizable. The camera then goes into another room away from the family having a wall separate the family and the camera to remind the audience they are just there to watch, and they are not apart of the family. The use of Point-Of-View shots in this movie is important because, we get to see how the main character, Chris, views what is happening around him and what he is seeing. In the opening credits of the movie, Get Out, some of the job titles that are shown are, the production, who the production associated with, who created the film, and it then proceeds to all of the main characters' names. Get Out had a budget of 4.5 million U.S. dollars, and grossed 255 million dollars worldwide. Get Out won, an MTV movie award, best original screenplay, and was nominated for an Oscar.
