Project Selection- My Decision

The decision I have made for my project is going to be a film. I have chosen to do a film because, I think it is the best fit for me. Some skills I have that make this the right choice for me is, I am creative, good at socialization, outgoing, and a good judge of character. One of the main factors that helped me come to this decision was, my love for movies and the movie making process. Another deciding factor to make a film is, working together as a group and making a short film, that you created and wrote the script for. The genre of the movie I will be making is Horror. I will be working with one partner for my film project. My partner is creative, good with technology, and a good judge of character. A good role I see for her is, helping cast, editing, and directing.

Project Selection- Film

All different kinds of movies, TV shows, and even commercials have always interested me because of all the creative minds behind each and everyone. One aspect about film making that interests me is, how the characters in a movie are created and all the detail that goes into them in order to make them unique. Another aspect that interests me is, how each characters wardrobe is made perfectly for them and their personality. The movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off is a great example to show how each character made their wardrobe perfectly fit to the character they were playing, and how their personality reflects on the costume. Another example is from the TV Show, The Newsroom, the costumes that Will McAvoy would wear while strolling down New York City, on the air, or even just around his house, were all made specifically to his character. Some skills I possess that would make the film project a good fit for me is, I am good at talking to people, and creative in many different ways. I believe something I could help with would be, casting. Something that could make this project a challenge for me would be, writing the script on my own, because I would want others' input to see what they like and how they would like to be portrayed.

Project Selection- Magazine

Print media is very interesting to me in many different ways, there is so much hard and creative work put into creating a magazine. Some aspects that interest me in creating a magazine is, designing the cover, taking the photos, choosing what topics throughout the magazine are the most important to stand out on the front cover. Some newspapers, magazines, and other print media that inspire me are, The New York Times, People, and even billboards. Each type of print media have a lot that goes into them, no matter what kind it is, there is a lot of time, space, and creative thinking that goes into every magazine, newspaper, or even blog post online. The writing process is very interesting to me because, I love writing and the thought process that it takes to create an article just on one subject. The magazine would make a good fit for me because, I love to write, and study subjects that interest me. Creating a unique magazine with interesting topics that intrigue and surprise the readers with something they wouldn't expect makes me want to make something that could spike everyone's interests. Something I could struggle with would be, trying to find a topic that everyone would want to read and feel like they can relate to the topic. It is hard nowadays trying to satisfy the majority of the people reading your magazine without offending anyone or making sure all of your facts and sources are one-hundred percent reliable and truthful.

Projection Selection-Film

The film Ferris Bueller's Day Off is one thing that inspired me to make a short film, because the way John Hughes directed the actors and actresses made the whole film process look very interesting. In the behind the scenes documentary of Ferris Bueller's Day Off, everything that happened behind the scenes, the thinking process, the writing, the directing, the acting; it all spiked my interest in the movie making industry more than before. Even just knowing that John Hughes wrote the entire movie of Ferris Bueller's Day Off within one weekend goes to show how creative these directors and writers are within the movie business. In the TV show, The Newsroom,  the writers made everything that happened, something that could happen in real life. The way the writers wrote how everything happened making everyone in The Newsroom seem like the luckiest people on Earth with how all the the stories just "fell" into their laps. I believe I am creative, which could help within the thought process of what the film is going to be about. I also believe I am good at judging character, so when casting I could be a big help. Something that could be a challenge for me would be writing the script.
